America Online, by default, 'compresses' images to make them download more quickly. Obviously, this cannot be done without a significant loss of quality.
In order to assure that you view the images on this site as they were intended to be, you should turn off the image compression. This can be done on AOL 4.0 by going to "My AOL" then "Preferences" then "WWW" then "Web Graphics." UNCHECK "Use compressed graphics."
This is especially important if you plan to upload the images onto another site (which, yes, I allow you to do, as long as you don't take ALL 100 of them...).
